1900 Then in 1900 - Looking down Albert Road with the Town Hall on the right and the Corportation Hotel on the left. Amos Hintons the well knnown Middlesbrough grocers is to the right of the single deck bus, and Freeman Hardy and Willis the shoe shop is to the left of the tram. Note the cobbled street.
This picture was taken from a position in front of the now Odeon Cinema looking towards the Town Hall. The Empire Theatre (now a nightclub) is the large building on the left and the Corporation Hotel is in the background. Horses and carts were a common site in the centre of the Town as were the trams (centre background) Robert Dennis grocers can be seen on the right.
The junction of Corporation Road with Linthorpe Road looking down towards the Railway Station. Collingwoods the jewellers is on the right, and opposite is the old Kings Head Hotel which was to become Newhouses and later Debenhams.
