John's dual photographic successes

Now in 1999 - Our front cover this month is by John Webster of Kirby Lane Great Broughton.

John’s photographic success dates back ten years ago when he joined the Stokesley Photographic Society. His talent for picture composition soon placed him amongst the prize winners and he performed an impressive double when he walked away with the Northern Counties Federation prize for the best slide and the best print.

A structural Engineer by profession, John, a Technical Director of a construction company, started his own part time cottage industry 5 years ago when he began turning his pictures into notelets and post cards and marketing them through village shops in North Yorkshire. One of his most famous customers is Kiri te Kanawa who receives sets from friends living in the county. On retirement John hopes to further develop this activity.
